Space Themed Summer 2019 CPD for Primary Teachers

In July 2019, CIT’s Blackrock Castle Observatory is offering primary teachers a choice of two spacey-STEM courses, each offered in two locations. All courses will run the first week of July and teachers who complete each 5-day course will be eligible for 3 EPV days.

Course 1: Junior Rocket Scientists: Space Science as a Cross-Curricular Theme is being offered again this year. Originally developed in 2014, this course is designed for teachers of Infants to 2nd class. The course includes cross curricular activities on space related themes (the Sun, the Moon, the Earth in Space, Aliens, Rockets …), with an emphasis on child centred inquiry-based learning.

This course will use Space as the overarching theme to approach STEM weeks in an academic year.
