Teachers – join forces with your students and enter your school team into the 2018 CanSat competition.
You do not need any experience in this – a mentor will work with you throughout the entire process.
A CanSat is a simulation of a real satellite, built inside an empty soft drink can. The competition gives students a feel for the excitement of technological achievement by launching their own ‘satellite’, and gives them their first practical experience of a real space project.
This is a competition for 2nd level students (transition year and upwards) in association with Institutes of Technology and run by the European Space Agency (ESA), ESERO Ireland and Blackrock Castle Observatory (BCO)
Each team and their teacher will be provided with a kit, an introduction course and on-going technical support from a dedicated mentor. Entry is open to teams of 4 to 6 students (from transition year and upwards) per team. You can find more information here: CanSat 2018 flyer for schools
Irish teams have done extremely well at the European competition, coming second in 2013, third in 2014 and 2016 and second in 2017.
Spaces are limited on a first come basis so please mail firstname.lastname@example.org you would like to participate
